NICOLAS VERNHES

Nicolas Vernhes is a Grammy Award-winning producer, engineer and mixer from Paris, France. He's best known for his exciting contributions in the indie rock and electronic spaces, particularly with renowned artists like The War on Drugs, Dirty Projectors and Deerhunter.

In 1995, Vernhes built Rare Book Room, a beloved Brooklyn recording studio and birthplace of critically acclaimed albums like Silver Jews’ American Water, Deerhunter’s Microcastle, Monomania and Cryptograms, Animal Collective’s Strawberry Jam, Spoon’s Transference, Mount Wittenburg Orca from Dirty Projectors and Bjork, and The War on Drugs’ Lost In The Dream. In 2018, Vernhes received a Grammy Award for his work on The War On Drugs’ A Deeper Understanding.

Vernhes splits his residency between Los Angeles, where he works from a production room at Paramount Recording, and Joshua Tree, CA, where he owns a residential remote studio. He and his wife plan to release an artist project under the moniker SUMMA via Platoon in Spring 2024.
